Bendel began manufacturing carbon steel tanks in Charlotte, NC, in 1963 under the name of Atlas Steel Products Company. The name was changed to Bendel Corporation in 1982 when the manufacturing division was spun-off from the parent company. Primary ownership has never changed hands.
